Candle Wax Before Melting

candle care

Your new candle is an investment in function and beauty so let's work together to make it perfect.

We use multiple types of wicks

01

the wick

Whether your candle has a cotton or wood wick, you must keep it trimmed. A wick that's too long will create soot on your jar, create a flame that is too big, or create conditions that can cause your candle vessel to crack or explode. Keep your wick trimmed to 1/4 inch. Use scissors or wick trimmers to trim it. This will ensure a safe burn and best candle performance.

02

memory

Candles have memory! Allow your candle to burn until the wax is melted all the way to the edges of the jar. This will prevent tunneling and is extremely important for the first burn. This will ensure each subsequent burn is full and complete. This may take up to 4 hours during your first burn.

helpful tips

Never burn your candle for longer than four hours at a time. Never leave your lit candle unattended or within reach of children or pets - they seem to be drawn to the flickering flame. To protect your furniture and counters, burn your candle on a heat-proof surface at all times. Keep it away from drafts and vibrations.

04

the half-inch rule

Stop burning your candle when there is a half inch or less of wax in the bottom. This will prevent the jar from overheating and shattering which could start a fire. Please do NOT pour boiling water into your jar to loosen the remaining wax; a phenomenon known as thermal shock can occur which is extremely dangerous.
